    Hi all!

    We have a new update for Luxor: Quest for the Afterlife available. This update is still only for the retail CD. If you purchased the downloadable version from MumboJumbo, there is a new version on our website already, so you should be able to uninstall your copy, and download from www.mumbojumbo.com to obtain the latest version. If you purchased from another portal, such as Big Fish, Oberon, or any others, we will be releasing the build to them ASAP.

    This fixes crash issues, problems catching the thieves, and the achievements are all working now.

    Hi Tikkatibs.

     

    Have you found the first Sun Disc yet? If not, please let us know what location you have played up to. You may need to play a little more until you find the first sun disc.

    I found the first sun disc right away. 3rd or 4th city. I have deleted all the files- reloaded the game then the new patch. I'm up to 6,500,000 points and
    haven't caught a thief yet. I got the sun disc right away this time too. One thing this time is if I start the game from the shortcut I get an error. I have to right click on
    the shortcut then select run as administrator. Error---
    Assertion failure .\crossplatform\commonfileIOhelpers.ccp(44): (all builds)
    expression was (string length <4096)
    trying to read a string of unusual size

    I have downloaded the patch, and it made things worse. Attached is the first in many errors that popped up when I tried to execute the program after installing the patch. I am guessing at this point that I'll have to uninstall and reinstall it again from the disk.

    If it helps, I am using Vista Home Premium 32bit SP 1 on a dual-core Intel 2G processor with 4G of RAM.

    I had uninstalled the game and reinstalled and am now getting the original error.  (and am not installing the patch, as it made things worse earlier today!)

    This time I'm up to 24,000,000 points, have purchased all items in the store and still haven't caught a thief. I got the sun disc in the 4th or 5th city.

    Hi, Tikkatips

    I believe in this way, The Sun disk of Aten will be spawned does not depend on your score.
    You will get the first sun disk of Aten after you have watched Thousmos plan scenario. But you will get another one by:
    1. Time Play.
    2. You must defeat a wondering high prophet.
    3. Complete some levels stage approximately 5-10 levels(may be required) before you can obtain another one.

    But note: For my experience with Luxor 4 (version 1.0) the game will get error if you take a long time to catch and defeat any of wondering high prophet. The problems are...
    1. On the map, when you select the sun disk of aten even the second or third to reveal the second or third wondering high prophet, it will not show up for you.
    2. Even though you have defeated the third wondering high prophet but the game will not reveal the hidden city Hotan and the part to go there.
    3. I sometime travel pass the third wondering high prophet while in the same part without having a battle for a canopic jar. And I have to go back and head to the city that I came from to get a battle. Sure! the game will get error.
    So hurry to catch a wondering high prophet first whenever you get the sun disk of aten.

    City A - - - - - City B - - - - - City C

    4. The game will get error if you defeat a wondering high prophet and then obtain another sun disk of aten while you are traveling from City A to City B.
    -But The game will keep working if you defeat a wondering high prophet while you are traveling from City A to City B, and then you obtain the next sun disk of aten while you are traveling from City B to City C or another.
    5. After you have defeated any of the wondering high prophet, the game will play Canopic Jars animation while you are on the map. Make sure you watch that too otherwise so.
    6. I sometime have a problem about graphics display and battle game play mode but I think my laptop causes these happen rather than the game.

    But I still play it. Keep rock it developer. We will wait for Luxor 5.

    have a problem with retail cd patch i download the patch fine but when i try to run the patch it say there no retail version found and aborts so what to do now i clearly have game downloaded on pute
    i vista 64 bit could that be causeing problems

    I have just downloaded the game here, presumably the latest version, but on trying to open the file from my download manager ( firefox mozilla) I get the following error message.

    Bought the german retail version.
    Same problem here (Assertation failure, game crashes right after starting it) plus the problem, that the patch says "No Retail Version Found".

    ok I bpught Luxor4, it failed to load, so I d/l the patch, I got 4 each of the icons and icons to your website, game still failed to load, so I uninstaled all of the above, wrote to support, I was told to run a diagnostic on my computer for directx and email you the results, which I did, results were great btw (in case they were never read.) So I then decided to reload every single Luxor game i have Luxor 1, 2, 3 plus Amun Rising, and Luxor Mah Jong (all retail cd's as is Luxor4) all loaded and played beautifully, so I reload Luxor4 thinking maybe a file was missing or somthing, voila' it played until I got to the final canoptic jar then game decides that freezing is the best option, I go back into MumboJumbo and d/l your patch, hmmmm, games puts me right back at square one....and guess what?!? I got to the final canoptic jar, captured it and game decvides to freeze again!!!!! Ya really know how to **** your Luxor fans off huh?.....all this after I was told by your companmy to email you my address and a new cd would be sent to me so I can toss my original that failed to work at all!!!! MumboJumbo....fix your bugs and honor your promises!!!! and most importantly respond to your customers!!!!

    Just to let you know I re-installed original Luxor, and 2 and 3 and Mah Jong and Amun Rising....they ALL played beautifully, as did the game sounds......so again why wont Luxor4 which is a factory CD (I found your patch posted on your site, d/l it and wound up with 4 icons of Luxor4 along with four icons of your website page, and NONE of the four Luxors played!) why not just send me a new cd and I will toss or send my exixting cd back to you?

    Please send us the results of running the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.



    For Windows Vista:



    1. Click the "Start" button.

    2. In the “Start Search”: field, type "dxdiag" and then press “Enter”.

    The DirectX Diagnostic Tool window appears.



    3. Please click the "Save All Information" button at the bottom of the tool. Save the DxDiag as a .TXT file and attach the file to a reply to this e-mail.





    For Windows XP:



    1. Click the "Start" button and then click "Run".

    The Run window appears.

    2. In the Open: field, type "dxdiag" and then click "OK".

    I downloaded the game from GameHouse and it show's a error when loading. Attached is the error.
    Both yes and no closes the game.

    Just a note that may help someone out there. I have noticed that if you do not follow instructions to the letter when the game is trying to get you to do some specific task, it gets confused and you will be unable to proceed. I did not go after the thief when first told to. Instead, I went and tried to find the rest of the Scarab. The game then would not let me continue after having accomplished this. I was unable to place the Sun Disk where it was needed. I had to delete my persona and start over. However; the game did start me in a new game with the rank I had achieved before. It also seems to help with preventing the game from locking up if you go to the Menu periodically and then exit the game. The game saves your status before you exit and if you do lock up, you will boot back in where you were without loosing any advancement. Just a heads up.
