I just finished the easy level and visited every city, got all the artifacts but I have none of the canopic jars. Once in the very beginning I was told to trap a pirate by using a disc but I don't remember anything important happening after that. I don't see any more "pirates" or jars anywhere. Now what? Can I proceed to a different difficulty level or somehow finish the game?

First, you need to make sure that you have the most recent version of the game. If you purchased the game at a store, then you will want to download the patch at http://forum.mumbojumbo.com/downloads/LuxorUpdate.exe. This will only work if you have an installed retail version of the game on your system. See http://forum.mumbojumbo.com/discussion/19/luxor-quest-for-the-afterlife-patch-retail-cd-purchased-copies-only/#Item_10 for details.

If you downloaded and purchased the game online, then you will want to go to the site that you originally downloaded the game from and download it again to insure that you have the most recent version.

Downloading the current version may or may not be able to correct your current game, but it is the best place to start.

There are some issues I am still trying to track down and fix related to the thieves. At this time the best advice I can give is to make sure you have the most current version of the game, and then start playing a new campaign. Hopefully I will be able to resolve all or most of the problems and put out a new version soon.

I had the same issue as playmagic (running Windows Vista x64) and here is what I did:

Set the game to run in Compatibility mode (Windows XP)
Set the game to run as Administrator
Deleted my profile, created a new profile
    Started a new game

Now I am just a short way through the game and have two jars and I also see the thieves.
    Works great now.

I finished Luxor 4 in easy mode. I'm going through the 2nd level of diffulty and have caught 2 of the 4 thieves (have two jars). I've gone over every path in this level. No more Sun Disks. My son was watching over my shoulder and saw that an artifact piece was discovered. However, no Sun disks were are shown across the bottom. I'd prefer not to delete the profile and start a new game.

Good news. I have just recieved clearance to pursue fixing as many of the Luxor: QFTA bugs as possible that related to canopic jars and theives.

    You can help!

If you are experiencing any of the folloing problems:

    • Unable to catch or see all of the thieves
    • Have caught all of  the thieves but don't have all of the canopic jars
    • Have caught all of the theives but the hidden path to Huton does not show up
    • ...or anything that sounds like one of these problems

The send me your profile. The profile on Windows XP is saved under: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MumboJumbo\Luxor - Quest For The Afterlife/Profiles

I'm not sure of the exact path for Vista.

In the Profiles folder you will see a .prf file for each profile. Send me the profile that is having the problem. Also, please include a description of the particular situation you are experiencing. These profiles will be very helpful in helping me figure out the problem.

Send an information directly to: rmadsen@mumbojumbo.com

    Thanks.

Great news everyone. I am currently working on fixing the thief/canopic jar/sun disc issues in Luxor: Quest for the Afterlife. My guess is that a new build will be distributed early in April on the MumboJumbo website and also be distributed to all of our online partners. Stay tuned.

I just downloaded this game from Yahoo in early Sept/09 so it must be patched by now... i have 3 jars and keep going between Hotan and T...doing battle with Thutmoose...?...winning but not recieving the final jar...seems to just run in endless circles and drives me nuts.

My question is as developers why do you release such a complex game scenerio without fully testing it and it needing patching?....don't you have testers?

    Hi Rain

It sounds like you have an early version of the game. Even though you bought it this month, that doesn't necessarily mean Yahoo has updated their copy.

Contact us at support@mumbojumbo.com, and we'll get you fixed up with a new version.

To add to this Josh....it seems many many aspects were improved on this game with the patch, compared to the version i been playing... now i wonder was there a patch for Luxor 3 which i also loaded from Yahoo?

Hey Rain. Glad to hear Luxor Quest is working for you. As for Luxor 3, I'm not quite sure. Were you having any kind of issue with it?

If so, I can definitely set you up with the latest version from our website.

Josh i'm not having any issues with the thing...love it...but just wondering if a patch was ever released...guess its patch paranoia :)

Luxor 3 doesn't have any patches available. This one went through extensive testing, and is very solid, so there hasn't been any need to update it.

So in other words QFAL was rushed into production, whereas Lux 3 was not...and it shows in gameplay...

Really you seem to have lost something with Lux 3 and QFAL, from a gamers perspective. Although the graphics and gameplay are superb, i keep going back to Luxor 2 as a basic diet, because ...its possible to lose...it has great stats...every level even tells you how many wins or loses. I wanna know how many spheres i have destroyed in my career!!!

Seriously, something is really lost in a game where u can restart a level endlessly...whats the point when it doesn't even record your high scores? Play a few times and beat it and so?... its all about beating your own best effort.

Matter of fact i intalled a trial of QFAL and went, nah, uninstalled it...it wiped out all my game data from Luxor 2...100's of hours!!!...i was irate. Obviously you developers have not thought this out and , yes, pump out a new title every 6 months is great in a business sense , for the masses, but to me Luxor spells quality. Luxor Mahjong is a great offshoot i love but i just keep going back to Luxor 2, although a bit graphicialy outdated and wish you could produce a newer game with updated graphics...and keep it simple.

Perhaps the game writers should spend a day playing all these games and theres no doubt for sheer pleasure from a gamers perpective Luxor 2 would be the ideal.... a classic game... you only need one.
