I just bought a retail version of "Luxor Adventures "and went to install it and it freezes at the "install' game "page and that's it. Then I get the usual windows message that the game is "not responding". I rebooted a few times and that made no difference. I have played "Luxor Quest for the Afterlife "so see no reason why my computer cannot cope with a similar game.
I thought of 2 possibilities and would like a comment from the experts here.
1. The new game "Luxor Adventures" says it has as a bonus "Quest for the Afterlife" on it. Since I already have that one installed should I uninstall it before loading the new game?
2. When I got "Quest for the Afterlife" I had problems with it crashing and freezing during play. I downloaded a patch and it works although 2 of the games play very slowly. (The boat and the one with cliffs). Is it possible that the "patched" version I have is interfering? If I uninstall the "Quest for the Afterlife "and am able to install and run "Luxor Adventures" will I have to reload the patch? I only have dial up and it took HOURS to download the patch.
HELP! Thanks.

Hi Jasper,

The version of Luxor QFTA you have should not be interfering, so we can help you out.

Many times, if you have background programs running or an antivirus program, those will conflict with the install. You can manually install by doing the following:

•With the disc inserted, open My Computer (XP) or Computer (Vista/7)

•Right click the drive the disc is located in, and select "Explore"

•Locate "LuxorAdventures.exe" and double click it to start the installation

If this does not help, please let us know and we will try something else!

when I tried to install it as you suggested it froze up and stopped responding the same as before. I run Norton which I am not happy with since it hogs the memory. I tried to install the game by temporarily disabling the Norton but that did nothing.

 Hi Joshua,
I was able to get the game to install by temporarily un-installing the Norton.I guess a setting on that was not allowing the game to install. I tried the game for a while and it worked fine. It's pretty fun. I re-installed the Norton and then game has played OK so far. Thanks.

I just wanted to add to this discussion, did you notice on your computer the optical drive light was on? This is the real time scanning of the antivirus software at work and its programmed to make sure the disc you inserted is not infected with a virus.
