Hi everyone. I have a great idea for the next Luxor hopefully being released in 2010 and I wanted to see what you think of it. I thought that in this new Luxor game, you can build your own levels/create your own paths. You could place the pyramid anywhere you want. Choose from a variety of Egyptian backgrounds to use. And when you're done with your creation, of course, play your level, like classic Luxor. You could not possibly ever get bored with a game like that, since you can make the levels look how ever you want them to and then play them. How cool would that be? Now, I don't know if a Luxor game like that is possible to make. They made the last Luxor a hidden object game. This time they can make it a tycoon/simulation game. If it doesn't work as a full game, it could be a new game mode in the next Luxor. If at least one person can reply and tell me if this is a good idea, that would be great. I do agree, it would be a lot of work, but I would love to see a Luxor like that sometime. Thanx.

 Hey Luxorfan,

So far, i don't remember playing any casual game which allows users to create and edit their own levels. To allow users to edit levels might require game engine modifications. MumboJumbo (MJ) might be unwilling or unable to do this for the time being. As we know Luxor 4 was released with bugs, and was very similar in design to Luxor 3. Perhaps MJ might lack the resources to accomodate such a change or they feel that this might not sell.

Also, the Luxor games have always been collections of levels made by the designers, although at least two of the games, namely Luxor Amun Rising and Luxor 4, involve a simple story or plot. If users create levels, it might detract from the plot. Speaking for myself, when I play a casual game I do not want to worry about creating the entire stage or level. I just want to get right in and destroy spheres. When I play the Luxor series I get the satisfaction of playing simple arcade action games. If I want level creation, I would be looking for a simulation like game such as one of the tycoon games.

I don't think many people actually come to this forum instead of visiting other forums, and users actually post only when they have problems, so do not be disheartened if you do not get replies to a suggestion topic like this. I'm sure one of the designers would reply to you if they happen to see your post.

Happy Gaming,

Brownkitty

Thanks for responding, Brownkitty. I do agree and understand that it would be hard to make a game like that, but maybe it could be a game mode, if possible. You know that Luxor and Luxor Amun Rising had very basic layouts, with simple backgrounds and paths drawn over them. Maybe if there was ever a create your own Luxor game, it could be as easy as that. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. However, I do doubt that MJ would make a game like that, and you're right, there aren't any casual games that are of simulation type, but I just like to see what people thought of this idea. Even if you think that it's not the best idea, that's fine and I'm glad you wrote. I hope that you're as excited for another Luxor this year as I am. Thanks again.

Luxorfan

If anyone else has any comments, positive or negative, please feel free to write.

So, I really think that would be very nice if MJ develop a game like that...

And also, if they don't make this happen, they would do just one thing: don't repeat levels in the game, because that's so flat and boring.

And finnaly, they would do new graphics!

This is a reply to the message recently made from Brownkitty.

I do believe you can create not only create your own level but create your own STAGE in Cubis Gold. I'm not sure if they kept that up on Cubis 2 Gold but it is kind of amazing.

Now here's a list of my ideas:

First, maybe we should get them to bring in step-by-step tutorials on custom levels. I've had problems creating my own game stage.

Second, I really found the Battle Mode intersting back then from Luxor: Quest for the Afterlife. Maybe we can bring that up for one of the playable multiplayer modes. I'm talking ONLINE here.

Third, we should have everything, I mean, EVERY MINOR DETAIL, unlocked so no one has to fight the game. I'll explain more after. I ran out of room.

Fourth, why not the Stage Creator? It will allow players to create their own levels and line them up in a chain. Which of the levels in the stage would be the River Mode? Which will be the Onslaught Mode? Will there be a Battle Mode after it? Soon the point of the Stage Creator would be to allow players to create their replicas of Luxor: Quest for the Afterlife or a game similar yet brand new.

Fifth, we should get MumboJumbo to allow players to use existing levels as templates. Maybe they'd want the levels to be more straightforward. Maybe they didn't like the theme or colour.

Sixth, maybe we can get MumboJumbo to allow players to create their own Quest Map or some kind of map.

Seventh, the game's queues are too impatient. Maybe the sequel should only allow one scarab at a time because it's kind of annoying to deal with "scarab squishes" that somehow often happens. The game should be a lot more easygoing and NOT linear at all. Maybe the game can be more like Epic Mickey. Will the player accept the quests? Will he/she just wander around having fun? Will he/she run AWAY from the ones crying for help? Will he/she just do stuff online and customizing? Always an option, NEVER a necessity. I think I ran out of room again. Wait for the next comment.

Eighth, we should tell MumboJumbo to think online. I'm talking about sharing contents (free), getting downloadable contents from the officials (also free, had enough of having to pay for all that), letting custom levels to be played online, establishing multiplayer modes such as:
-Battle - It's Red Team VS Blue Team. Shove the treasure into your exit on your right to win, up to 10 players allowed. (5V5)
-Score Duel - 2 players take a turn each to beat a level and take the highest score. If there's a tie, it repeats. It's also playable offline.
-Domination - This is inspired from Onslaught. The goal is to possess the most out of the three flagsites in the middle before the time runs out. All powerups are disabled except for Fire Ball, Net, and Wild Ball. Fire Ball allows you to capture a flagsite if not surrounded. The blockades will surround your flagsites at the same time you catch Net. Only the Wild Ball can destroy the blockades. In the meantime you can take out spheres from scarabs on the sides.
